consequences
fog of war
political
maneuvering
hold them to account

president elect barack hussein obama haiku poems
a skinny black kid
with a funny name
yes we can
in the beginning
not much money, endorsements
yes we can
small donations
record numbers
yes we can
young volunteers
excited, engaged
yes we can
the not so young
knocking on doors, believing
yes we can
ann nixon cooper
one hundred six years old
what she's seen
just past slavery
no cars
no planes
women silenced
hopes dismissed
depression, world wars
the buses, hoses
a preacher
a man on the moon
a wall comes down
through the best of times
the darkest of hours
change can happen
a people can overcome
yes we can
this election
a vote is cast
lines stretched past
schools and churches
waiting in line
for hours
the belief that
this time must be different
that people, voices
can be that difference
yes we can
i know it's corny
and yet it's not
a day of hope
of cautious optimism
of finding a way
to believe again
yes we can
the post election speech of president elect barack obama can be found on this cnn.com page.

this image of barack obama cleaning up after himself, before leaving an ice cream shop in iowa, was taken by callie shell - obama - digital journalist.
and if this post isn't corny enough for you, let me tack on a link to the youtube video of what appears to have been the song for the obama campaign.
seriously though. following this campaign for all these months. this election, i was moved.
